Continue reading »]]> With the 2012 Formula One season just around the corner we take a look at some the changes you can expect from the coming season.

Uk viewers will see  a change in the broadcasting corporations of the sport. Whereas F1 has long time been associated with BBC, the 2012 TV rights have now been bought by SKY who are set to run a whole channel devoted to the sport in an attempt to increase exposure and popularity. The channel will cover 6 race days at every meeting including each and every qualifying session. Included will also be extra behind the scenes footage of races and team news throughout the season. As the majority of homes in the UK now have access to SKY it’s unlikely that the viewing numbers will drop, if anything the fresh faced look from the Sky Sports F1 channel will likely increase viewing figures. For people in the learning process of how to bet on motor races online then taking advantage of the increased exposure and expert analysis will be a massive advantage.

The 2012 season will see the return of the United States Grand Prix with the race to be held at Austin, Texas in a new multi million pound circuit and facility. Much speculation has surrounded whether the Bahrain grand prix will regain it’s status after riots in 2011 caused officials to abandon the race, but we can confirm that the race has been re-instated into the 2012 calendar.

As far as the tyres are concerned we can expect to see revisions in all but one of Pirelli’s tyre compounds, which they say will improve driver experience and also add to ‘racing incidents’ – whatever that means – improving viewer experience.

The top four teams- Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes have kept the same driver lineups that proved to be successful in 2011. Sebastian Vettel will go into the season as defending champion and outright favourite to win another drivers championship but it’s felt that this season could be much tighter as teams continue to improve their cars with aspects such as the much publicised diffuser. Probably the biggest change and most surprising driver news comes in the form of the return of Kimi Raikkonen who returns after a three year absence to race for Lotus F1 Team. The news came on the back of Raikkonen claiming to never race in F1 again, but his love for the sport obviously over took that of his initial statement.

Some changes in team names include Team Lotus changing to Caterham F1 after owner tony Fernandes purchased the Caterham Car group. Virgin Racing will also be under a new identity in the form of Marussia F1.

….. It sure will be soon! The championship that is! Vettell’s dominance this year has been mind-blowing and he looks set to wrap up the remaining points he needs at the Suzuka race track in Japan at the weekend. He’s so far ahead that many of the best F1 betting site have stopped taking bets as to whether he will lift the crown.

It’s actually been quite eerie as to how good the young German has been. Is it the car? Well, that certainly plays its role. There’s no way he is single handily as good as the likes of Hamilton, Button, Alonso and Webber. But then look at Webber. He has the same car, same people around him and he currently lies fourth with almost half as many points as Vettel. There’s no doubt that Vettel is special, but how special we don’t know.

As a totally hypothetical situation it would be really interesting to see how he faired at a lesser team such as Mercedes or Renault, a little like Valentino Rossi in MotoGP. He’d probably struggle to emulate what he has achieved so far, but he certainly would still be there or thereabouts. Who knows, in a few years time when he gets sick of winning back to back championships then maybe he will jump ship.

The rest of the field have some serious work to do over the off season. There are still 6 races to go and they will be fighting hard for the constructors championship points. Although, again Red Bull will take some catching as they lead by 138 points already.

The race for second place is also still very much alive and with 3 out of the 4 in the hunt former world champions, there will be a lot of pride at stake. I can imagine a lot of teams using the time between now and the end of the season to really test new parts for next year and look to be finishing off their cars for the 2012 season where they no doubt will be desperate to close the gap to that of the Red Bulls.

The exciting thing, for Vettel anyway, is that he is only 24 years old and has his best years ahead of him. He could go down as one of the greats in the sport….if not the greatest!

Continue reading »]]> As we reach the mid stages of the Grand Prix calendar the teams will off to Canada for the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Red Bull continue to push home their advantage and sit comfortably adrift at the top of the constructors championship. Whilst Webber has struggled somewhat, Vettel just goes from strength to strength and looks unstoppable right now. He is currently available at 11/8 and it’s tough to look further than the German is a firm favourite to rack up another win in Canada. Team mate Webber can be had at a slightly more appealing 13/2. Whether Webber can dislodge his team mate is doubtful, but with Formula One, anything can happen come race day.

McLaren currently pose Red Bull’s nearest threat and Lewis Hamilton is available at 9/4. The Britton has been there or thereabouts in pretty much all races in 2011. It’s  been widely reported that McLaren have a host of new features available for Canada on their 2011 car. The Milton Keynes based team need to start to rally this year if they are to catch the might of the Red Bull’s. Jenson Button has had a quiet start to the season and if he is wanting to remain with a shot at his second title will need to pull something out of the bag this weekend. Button is available at 15/2. Ferrari continue to improve this season and their charge will be lead in the form of Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard is without a victory in 2011 but is fond of the Candian track. The car is likely going to be suited to the long circuit and many tip a good weekend for the Italian outfit. Alonso can be picked up at 13/2 whilst teammate Massa lies at 50/1 and provides a really good value each way bet.

It’s unlikely the rest of the field are going to feature too much at the top of the leader board, but our value bet for the race goes to Petrov at 80/1 who has already amassed two podiums this year. An each way bet looks solid value.

Continue reading »]]> After the success of the opening Grand Prix in Melbourne, the betting for the Malaysian Grand Prix is hotting up already. Sebastian Vettel goes out as a clear favourite for the race and looks a formidable force for the race.

The German goes off at just 2.10 to win the race with his closest rival being Lewis Hamilton at 5.10. The betting margins show for themselves how much the bookmakers believe Vettel will be extremely tough to beat in the heat of Malaysia. He’s such a massive favourite that instant win games are making him at almost even money.

However, the McLaren’s are formidably quick at Kuala Lumpur and with their new carbon fibre diffuser on the car for the weekend will see a drastic increase in pace and likely performance.

Fernando Alonso in is Ferrari are currently at 6.50. Whilst the Ferrari team has yet to really kick off their 2011 campaign, Alonso will be looking for a jump start at the weekend and be pushing for maximum points. Team mate Massa is looking a good value bet at 34.00 and if they can get their car to click, could be there or there abouts.

Third place finisher in Australia, Vitaly Petrov also shows good value at 41.00 in what’s shaping up to be an interesting season for Renault. A very solid each way bet can be had here if they can replicate the pace and reliability of the opening weekend.

Our pick for the weekend will be that of Jensen Button at 10.00. As already mentioned the McLaren will see the introduction of their new diffuser at Malaysia and could be a somewhat unknown quantity. Vettel will no doubt be the man to beat, but Jensen knows how to win around this track and that could prove pivotal.

Continue reading »]]> Sebastian Vettel will no doubt start out as favourite in the Malaysian Grand Prix 2011 after a domination weekend in Australia.

The Red Bull’s set the bench mark for the last race weekend and will once again be the team to beat. The Milton Keynes outfit also have a new KERS transmition to fit giving the car an extra 80 bhp, if they didn’t need it already!

Mark Webber will be looking to also improve on his fourth place finish in his home country with a good run at the tough Sepang International circuit.

However, the track could favour that of the McLaren’s as they introduce their new carbon fibre diffuser which will replace the titanium one in play in Australia.

Lewis Hamilton is confident that the team will be there or thereabouts come the end of the 2011 season and will be looking at Malaysia to look to get a strangle hold on the championship. Some of the best motor sports gambling sites are going with the McLaren’s this weekend.

Jensen Button will also be looking for improvement in Malaysia as the Pirelli tyres will be pushed to the limit.

Ferrari had a relatively quiet opening race weekend but will be well suited to the hot and sticky conditions in Sepang. Both Alonso and Massa failed to make the podium in Australia so they will be looking to close the ominous gap already developed by Red Bull.

Continue reading »]]> Sebastian Vettel picked up where he left off in the 2011 F1 season by cruising to a comfortable victory to pick up his first title in Melbourne, Australia.

Vettel showed his dominance all weekend and especially in qualifying where the Red Bull driver was nearly a second quicker than that of Lewis Hamilton in second place.

Vettel was very much fancied to do well this weekend and early f1 racing betting online tips proved this by making the young German the outright favourite by some distance.

It was in the end a routine victory for Vettel who claimed that the team still have more to find from the car which is a frightening prospect for the rest of the field after being so soundly beaten in the season opener.

Lewis Hamilton came a respectable third place after a very solid weekend for McLaren whilst Vitaly Petrov completed the podium with his first ever top three finish in the Renault.

Scotland’s Paul Di Resta came a very respectable 12^th place in his debut Formula One race but may still reach the points after two of the Sauber’s were eliminated from the final standings due to having an illegal rear wing. They have appealed the decision and have to wait on their fate which is expected to before the next race.

Red Bull’s dominance is there for all to see in 2011 and if you are wagering on all types of auto races this season, it’s going to be mighty hard to see past them. McLaren and Ferrari are likely to be their closest rivals, but on the evidence of week one, still look a log way behind.

In 2010 Chris Ferguson announced that fulltilt.net were to partnership Virgin Racing in what was thought to be a multimillion dollar contract. Arranges were set aside that the Full Tilt branding were to be seen on the car, drivers overalls and helmet of both drivers for the 2010 season.

Early reports are that on 2011 these sponsor logos were not apparent in pre season testing fuelling speculation that the two companies have split and gone separate ways.

Full Tilt is the second largest poker site in the world and is a haven for many top poker professionals who play poker for real money and for vast amounts. Ferguson, a professional in his own right, set up the company alongside Howard Lederer and has taken the company to new heights throughout the poker boom.

Continue reading »]]> The 2011 constructors championship looks to be just as tight as the drivers championship with 3 teams clear favourites for the title.

Red Bull – Red bull had the clean sweep in 2010 and are obvious favourites at odds of 2.50. The team consisting of Mark Webber and current World Champion Sebastian Vettel is extremely strong with both drivers capable of lifting the crown in 2011. With Red bull it’s really a matter of two things. One, if the car will hold up all season as 2010 outlined some serious reliability. And two, if the two drivers can stay out of each others way and stop on the track. Often in 2010 it was so one sided that they could only race each other and this caused mor problems then it’s maybe worth for the team. However, worthy favourites and a tough team to back against.

McLaren – The all English duo of Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton will take the hot seats for the 2011 season and see McLarens price for the constructors championship at 3.40. The pair are both more then capable of winning each and every grand prix they enter, they certainly have the skill, but do they have the car? The Red Bull has been so far ahead of everyone that they have been forced into drastic action with the release of a brand new motor that both Hamilton and button are raving about in pre season. It seems practice times are backing this up and a punt on the English boys looks very reasonable indeed.

Ferrari – Ferrari have been somewhat off the pace in recent years as a team but look resurgent in practice in 2011. Pace has been good and they look a competitive option to the two favourites coming in at 3.50. Both Alonso and Massa (who we’ve tipped for an outside shot at the drivers championship) are more then capable to take the Italian company back to the top, where they feel they belong. Ferrari’s big budget means that they are able to keep adding throughout the season, so lookout for them in 2011.

It’s tough to really see past the big three this season and our recommendations would be to stick with either of the above. However, if you do crave that outsider bet the look at Mercerdes GP. Schumacher and co will look to resurrect the team after a bitterly disappointing year last year, and it finally seems as if the legendary German is finally happy with the car. Sebastian Vettel – At 3.60 Vettel goes off as joint favourite and looks every bit as good value as his price suggests. With the Red Bulls looking mighty quick in practice it’s no doubt he will be there or thereabouts in 2011. Back to back title are often hard to come by however, so all the pressure will be on. It’s just a matter of if he can handle it?!

Fernando Alonso – Joint favourite at 3.60 Alonso will be Vettel’s closet rival and poses and very real threat in the 2011 Ferrari. Reliability, for once, was Ferrari’s down fall in 2011 and ultimately could of cost Alonso the season as he got off a dreadful start before kicking on in the final few races. A good start could put the pressure right on the Red Bulls and put Alonso in good stead for another Drivers Championship.

Lewis Hamilton – For all the talent Hamilton posses, he’s found it tough since winning the drivers championship some 3 years ago now, but odds of just 5.00 on the former world champion show how much class this young man has. Whether the car is ready to compete week in week out, remains to be seen. Any money on Lewis, certainly isn’t daft money!

Jensen Button – Another world champion sees Button line up for 2011 with a new car and new attitude. It’s pretty unlikely McLaren are likely to see Button as a first choice driver over Hamilton, but nonetheless, he is a class act and more then capable of winning another title. Whether 2011 will be his year, we doubt and odds of 10.00 certainly don’t rule him out, but make him an outsider. But he will regin again!

Mark Webber – The Australian comes in at a very value heavy price of 11.00. It was only last season that Webber was leading the campaign for much of the season and if things go his way in 2011 he’s definitely one of our value picks for the title. Not many put in as much work behind the scenes as Webber for the sport, so it would be just reward for the Aussie, but a field with no less then 5 world champions is going to be fierce competition.

Michael Shumacher – Schumacher’s return in 2010 went down as somewhat of a whimper. Failure to even make a podium has even the die hard fan wondering why he returned. However, he comes in a price of 13.00 this season to win it all, but in all honesty, we think there’s better value elsewhere in the field.

Felipe Masa – The Brazilian admittedly hasn’t been himself since his horrific crash in 2009. But he looks to be back and stronger then ever for 2011. The Ferrari car is looking blisteringly quick in practice and if he can find that ruthless streak he had when he won the championship, then odds of an unbelievable 29.00 seem too good to turn down and he becomes our 2011 VALUE BET!

Red Bull claim to have no “number 1″ driver and treat each driver with the same individuality they deserve. If true, then Webber will be in with a shout as they ahve a good car.

Michael Schumachers return to F1 went down with somewhat of a whimper without even making a podium. The Mercedes GP team claim to have improved dramtically this year and Schumacher seems much more at home. Competitve odds of 13.00 prove this.

Wel feel these guys will be the tilte contenders, but also don’t forget about former World Champion Felliepe Massa. Some say that Massa hasn’t been teh same since his horrific crash two years ago, but at odds of 29.00, in a quick Ferrari and with the troubles of two years ago well and truly behind him, Massa is our wildcard pick for teh 2011 season.
